Adult Acne – Treatment Options

There are some things that we need to know about adult acne, and one of the most important is that it needs to be treated differently from teenage acne. Why? Because it’s usually a different kind of acne all-together.

Teen acne usually occurs in those with oily skin, and adults with the condition often have combination skin (sometimes referred to as a “t-zone”), or sensitive-to-dry skin. Most anti acne creams don’t work as effectively here, because they are drying in nature.

Nearly all over the counter acne preparations (and some home skin peels) also contain azelaic and/or salicylic acids. These are decent for non-sensitive skin, but many will find them drying and irritating.

For adults with sensitive skin, it’s best to also applying a moisturizing lotion after using some form of acne treatment.

The causes of adult acne are different from those of teen-onset acne. Adults can break out after taking a drug that contains a steroid, or taking illegal anabolic steroids. Some birth control pills can treat acne in women, but some forms of contraception actually worsen it by reducing the amount of a female sex hormone.

Even vitamin B is known to aggravate acne. There are other medicines that have the unfortunate side effect of making acne worse, which can make fighting the condition that much harder for adults.

If you are an adult that has acne, you may want to start looking for some alternative treatments to the regular acne treatments. One in particular that comes highly recommended is called the iQ Derma Acne Clear Remedy system.

It provides a great balance of an acne-fighting clarifying wash, a powerful acne treatment lotion and a soothing hydrating lotion to keep your skin was becoming flaky and rough. Using a system with a 3-step process attacks your acne from every possible angle, helping to give you clearer skin within a few days.
