Back Acne (Bacne) – Treatment & Prevention
A very common location for acne to occur on the body is around the back and shoulder region, usually referred to as back acne, or bacne. This region is especially vulnerable to acne because not only does sweat tend to accumulate there, but it is a hard area to reach as well.
Back acne is not all that different from facial acne except in regards to pore size. The pores on your back are often larger than those on the face, which means that acne appears larger here and it takes a little more effort to contain and care for.
Back acne can manifest itself in the form of whiteheads or blackheads, and depending on which form you have, the method of treatment you choose will vary. Generally, you want to make sure that you wash your back daily.
People tend to skimp on washing their back because it is difficult to reach or they do not have a long-handled loofah handy. Skipping out on properly washing your back is most likely the primary cause of your back acne.
To effectively wash your back, take a long-handled loofah and place the same product you use as a facial cleanser on the sponge. The key to the method is to use a gentle, circular motion, making sure you get all the problem areas good and clean. Next, rinse and very carefully pat dry the acne prone areas.
The reason it is better to blot versus rub off excess water is that the rubbing action can sometimes further irritate the area and make your efforts to treat it worthless.
In regards to the prevention of back acne, there are several easy things you can do on a daily basis that can have a positive impact on the condition of your skin.
A few examples are to always wash after working out or sweating, while sleeping, avoiding positions where your back is against the sheets for any duration of time, and wearing lighter, cotton-like materials versus heavier, weighted down materials that cling to your skin.
Keeping these simple tasks in mind will no doubt better the condition of acne on the very prone back area, and leave you feeling better about the condition of your skin.
