Tips For Clearing Teen & Adult Body Acne

Adult Acne, or even teen acne for that matter, is usually a body-wide problem, sometimes appearing on the chest, back, and even the legs.

If you have body acne, it can range from mild to severe- and for a lot of people, it can be both painful and embarrassing.

There are a few ways to clear up a case of body acne- and treatment starts with a daily cleansing routine, a good eating plan along with exercise, and the right kind of topical treatments.

Those with a milder case of acne can benefit greatly from a cleansing routine. Done daily, and consistently, it can prevent acne from getting worse, and it could even clear it up! Here is a simple daily regimen that will cleanse the skin and help with body acne:

  • Shower often. Bathing and keeping the skin clean will treat mild acne, and you should definitely shower after you work out or if you’re out in the hot weather. Excessive sweating will help to breed bacteria on the skin. These bacteria mix with the sebum in the pores, and can cause acne blemishes to crop up. However, you should be careful not to over-cleanse, as this can overstimulate the sebaceous glands.
  • Keep it simple! Use a mild cleanser with few ingredients. Perfumes and dyes can dry or irritate the skin, which will also induce excess sebum production and can bring about infections, too.
  • When you’re done cleansing, you should moisturize the skin. If you are going outdoors, use sunscreen! A good moisturizer keeps the skin moist and will prevent scaling and irritation that bring about body acne.
  • It’s important to exfoliate at least once a week. Use a scrub with exfoliating “beads”, or a loofah sponge. Exfoliation gets rid of those dead skin cells that clog pores.

You also need to work on your diet and exercise program, as a preventative measure. Eat more fruits and veggies, because they contain antioxidants that fight against free radicals and bolster immune response.

Your body will be shielded from pollution, and other things that will irritate the skin. Exercise will help the body flush out breakout-causing toxins.

Treat your skin with a remedy designed for body acne. Alpha hydroxy acids have a “peeling” effect that can alleviate acne. There are a few body lotions that contain AHAs.

Another good choice is benzoyl peroxide, which also has peeling, bacteria-killing, and cleansing properties.

Or, you can treat yourself to a body scrub at a spa. This makes it a lot easier to target all your acne prone areas, and it is a great way to indulge yourself!

It isn’t that difficult to treat body acne- it can be done quite easily at home or in a spa setting.

However, a more severe case might warrant the use of a stronger acne fighting formula, or even a visit to your doctor or dermatologist.
