Treating Blackhead Acne Effectively

Acne can be in a lot of different forms. A breakout can show up in the form of white heads, pimples, abscesses, or blackheads. Blackheads are caused when the skin’s natural oils called sebum hardens.

When this buildup of oil hardens, it makes a blackhead. They get their name because the collected oil protrudes the surface of the skin where it attracts dirt and dust to it.

Blackheads can be treated many ways. Unfortunately the drug industry has peddled so many chemical solutions products that sometimes it is hard to know which one is right.

There have also been some crazy and wacky ideas of blackhead treatments. Which one is right? To answer this we must first know what causes such breakouts.

Being one of the most common complaints among teenagers, let’s follow the habits and foods of a teenager. Do they drink enough water? Probably not.

Making sure you drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day helps battle blackheads from the inside out, hydrates the body which prevents drying, and it prevents the build up of bacteria and sebum.

Since this can happen to anyone, what you choose to eat or drink can play a big part in your situation. Let’s look at fast food. Avoiding fast food as much as possible can reduce your intake of sugars that are found in sodas, and starches, such as French fries.

These sugars can lead to more oil buildup, creating a breakout problem.

For females, the type of makeup used can be a preventive blackhead acne treatment. Natural makeup products allow the skin to ’breathe,’ allowing the pores to be open and clean instead of clogged and closed. Read your labels carefully, avoid beauty products with oily fillers and gel ingredients.

Don’t forget to exercise. Exercise? Yes. The more the body moves the more oxygen rotates and circulates in the blood. This produces healing plus provides nutrients to the skin and inflamed areas, keeping skin in good condition.

In the case of an already existing breakout of blackheads, you need to get rid of them before putting into action a preventive regiment. Make sure you wash the affected area thoroughly, not scrubbing too hard. Use warm water (opens pores) and an exfoliating soap. Natural glycerin soaps are good for this.

The exfoliate will remove dead skin cells that can get trapped in the pores. Try to avoid oil-based soaps. Again, read your labels for the best blackhead treatment information.

Salicylic acid is a good exfoliate and it will help open the pores for deep cleansing and good skin health. Honey in warm water, applied to the affected area and then washed after about ten minutes with warm water is a frequently used natural remedy. Rose water and lemon can be used after a good steaming, too.

Turn on a shower or sink with hot water and get face as close as you can without burning. Afterwards, gently wash your face because now the pores are open and waiting to be cleaned.
